Deepfried is a 20 year long collaboration between Peter Chester and Robert Vance Cross III. Deepfried's music is the artifact of happenings. Our albums are markers in time. They are the reverberation of our spiritual and physical journey, often infused with serendipitous sounds and adventurous visitors. The music production process tends to center around blending live recordings and loops around a foundation of a digital library resulting in intimate sonic explorations.
In this episode, Deepfried rented a house with a tennis court in Point Reyes for a week in the summer of 2019. Similar to how many of Deepfried's albums have been produced, there was no specific plan. Peter arrived with some beats and some riffs to play with and Rob laid down some foundational bass tracks upon which we could build our sonic journey. A couple of amazingly talented guests from the band Hello Noon, Stephen Spies and Kate Bacich, stopped by for a day and brought everything together with some strings and a trombone. Along with all these musical elements, the album is bathed in field recordings from hikes through the mountains along Tomales Bay as well as samples from playing tennis and opening wine bottles while making dinner together.
Love All starts and ends with a call to step together, to get closer. "Hug Me" speaks to relearning the reflex to step away when things are tough. Instead we build the trust that we can solve our problems together. "One Song" makes a case that we are stronger working together, one problem at a time. "Give Yourself Away" is a meditation on trading ego for generosity. "Girls & Boys" brings us back to a moment of innocents while also recognizing the unfolding tragedy posed by our global environmental collapse. "Seeking Altitude" and "Reentry" comprise an instrumental vessel transporting us to and from a bigger vantage point, an Overview Effect of sorts. The journey is concluded with a hopeful reprise of "Another Hug for the Road".
