Lately I’ve been riffing on the guitar for my 9 month old daughter, Olivia, every night. Today I decided to take a moment and do a quick recording and bounce of some of the tunes I’ve been riffing on. We’ve been playing it for Olivia and so far she’s been sleeping sounder than ever before! Fingers crossed, maybe this will make life easier and happier for us all.
Koht called me last Tuesday and said we should play music. Honestly, we accidentally started this loop in C# which made it extremely difficult to jam to this. But the song had good bones and thanks to a string of serendipitous events in the remixing process this thing came out pretty well. Especially when Crystal came home at 10:30 and busted out the Melodica.
I miss you Rob. I used a custom Logic Audio synth patch to do the bass. I’m stoked on how that part came out but really, there’s no substitute for Rob’s bass riffs.
The lyrics / cover art are following the theme…. what would it be like to talk to yourself when you were a kid? Do you think you would even listen to yourself?
Another song from our jam session with Peter Koht and Crystal Birns on New Years Eve.
I added the bass line and some of the drums after the fact, but otherwise this is straight from their living room. We called it “Something About Indonesia” because Lindsey sang something about Indonesia :). I’m thinking that one thing that might help in these impromptu sessions is some sort of method for rapidly writing lyrics… like maybe I could come prepared with a list of topics, or a few rhyming chorus lines… Hmm… thinking about it…
I went to the open mic at Gadgetbox a couple of weeks ago. It was FANTASTIC! I’m looking forward to tonight’s performances. You can read more about it on the gadgetbox open mic facebook page or watch some of the performances on youtube!
We played at Pergs and came out with a pretty fun set of tunes. Bummer that rob couldn’t make it and lay down his notorious bass lines. I hat to sub for him with a keyboard. Bob and Lindsey carried the guitar and vocals. David Schulkin threw down some ukulele riffs.
